Abstract
A partial cDNA clone encoding a putative nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (ACHR) subunit of the human filarial parasite, Onchocerca volvulus, has been isolated and sequenced. A truncated open reading frame of 1308 bp capable of encoding 436 amino acids with a calculated M(r) of 51,209 was identified. The absence of the double cysteine residues necessary for neurotransmitter binding indicates that the cloned ACHR is a non-alpha subunit.Entities:
