Abstract
In most disease vector control programs of the world, little attention is given to sampling methodology for surveillance against importation of vectors, determination of vector distribution, vector incrimination, monitoring of entomologic risk factors, and evaluation of control. This paper discusses briefly the appropriate attractant and nonattractant collecting methods for each situation, the importance of using more than one collecting method, examples of entomologic indicators, basic sampling strategies (distribution, number, and frequency of samples), and guidelines for analysis of sampling data from vector programs.Mesh:
