Variability of places of origin of the human renal arteries.

H Kosiński1.

Abstract

In the material of 60 organ blocks from corpses of adults of both sexes, places of origin of the left and right renal arteries have been described in relation to each other, in relation to the place of origin of the superior mesenteric artery, to the median plane of the body, and to the aortic wall. It has been found that in 72% of the examined specimens the right renal arteries originated above the left ones, and in 56% of cases they are situated closer to the median plane of body. Distances between places of origin of the renal arteries and the origin of the superior mesenteric artery varied from 2-26 mm.
