Abstract
This article summarizes studies on hepatitis B in the Asian American population and includes prevalence rates among different Asian subgroups, routes of transmission, and sequelae of both perinatal and childhood-acquired hepatitis B virus infection. Rationale for use of hepatitis B immune globulin and hepatitis B vaccine for Asian infants and vaccine for children and seronegative adults is discussed also. Chronic hepatitis B, cirrhosis, and primary hepatocellular carcinoma in adults and screening for early detection of liver cancer are reviewed.Entities:
