Pleomorphic adenoma of the lung--report of a case and review of the literature.

J S Wang1, C H Tseng.

Abstract

A male patient, aged 36, was found to have lower lobe collapse of the left lung. A smooth vascularized whitish nodular mass obstructing the orifice of left common basal bronchus was noted through bronchoscopic examination. After left lower lobectomy, the histological features of the tumor were indistinguishable from those of the pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary gland. To our knowledge, only 12 cases of pulmonary pleomorphic adenoma have been reported in the literature.
