Who bears the cost of antidepressants in Australia?

T M Alchin1, H W Tranby.

Abstract

We analyse the costs of antidepressant use in Australia, including government costs. The newer drugs are all expensive and the increases in costs are largely borne by the government--over the last four years the total number of prescriptions for antidepressants has not increased but government costs have doubled.
