Tissue adhesive vs sutures in closure of incision wounds. A comparative study in human skin.

S Alhopuro, A Rintala, H Salo, V Ritsilä.

Abstract

Two different standard incisions were used to compare the healing of wounds closed with normal "atraumatic" surgical technique and with a tissue adhesive. Healing was recorded by serial photography. It was found that wounds, which were not under tension postoperatively, the resulting scar was cosmetically better when tissue adhesive was used compared with conventional methods of suture.
