Abstract
Both ageing and the environment have a significant impact on xenobiotic metabolism. Furthermore, there is some evidence from in vivo studies that the elderly respond to environmental changes to a lesser degree than younger individuals. This article reviews the available evidence and concentrates on possible underlying mechanisms.Mesh:
