The notion of respect in Asian traditions.

S Sugirtharjah.

Abstract

The expression of respect is rooted in an individual's culture. In Asian cultures respect is seen as a religious duty. In Asian cultures respect is centred on the family and formally demonstrated through language and gestures. The Asian concept of respect influences feelings of responsibility within the family and the ways in which Asian patients may set about making decisions.
