Abstract
Specific DNA binding by eukaryotic transcription factors is conferred by several types of sequence motif. These domains have been extensively studied with regard to their precise interaction with DNA and the basis of sequence specificity. Evidence is accumulating that DNA-binding domains serve functions in addition to binding DNA: they are also targets of viral and cellular regulatory proteins.Mesh:
