The prevalence of HIV infection among mentally ill offenders in Thailand.

Abstract

The study was made at Nitichitawej Hospital in 1988 to find the prevalence among mentally ill offenders whom had detained there. The total of 325 cases were investigated by gel agglutination and confirmed by W-B analysis. A total of 81.5 per cent were mentally ill and the 1.85 per cent of these were HIV infected. Among the seropositive HIV, the two cases were Schizophrenia and the four cases were drug addicted.
