Abstract
The family is the most central and enduring influence on children. Families, regardless of their composition, are themselves subject to a variety of social forces that influence how well they are able to meet children's needs. Pediatricians who understand the functions families serve and the factors that constrain them will be better able to assist parents in promoting their children's health and well-being.Entities:
