Free sensory and nonsensory plantar flap transfers in the treatment of ischial decubitus ulcers.

J Sekiguchi1, S Kobayashi, K Ohmori.

Abstract

For the treatment of ischial decubitus ulcers, a sensory plantar flap is ideal, because the sensory stimulation of the flap appears to contribute greatly to long-term flap viability. When a sensory flap is not possible, a nonsensory plantar flap offers most of the same advantages.
