Abstract
An evaluation of the pre-operative preparation of 285 children attending Sheffield Children's Hospital for elective surgery showed that prolonged and unnecessary starvation takes place, particularly in children over 1 year of age who have their operation in the morning. Excessive starvation of children is unkind and unnecessary. In order to prevent it a revision of current starvation guidelines is required.Entities:
