Abstract
Three AIDS patients are reported, 2 European and 1 African. All 3 developed Histoplasma capsulatum infection while living in Africa. Two developed a pulmonary infiltrate, and 2 had skin lesions. One patient was successfully treated with itraconazole, 400 mg daily; in a second patient, itraconazole was partially successful; the third patient was lost to follow-up before adequate treatment could be started. Histoplasma infection is probably an often undiagnosed complication in African AIDS patients.Entities:
