Abstract
Metal binding provides several useful routes to protein stabilization. Metal chelation by binding sites engineered into proteins can increase thermal stability, conformational stability and reduce proteolytic degradation. As few as two coordinating ligands, if properly positioned on the protein surface, can form chelating sites suitable for metal binding and stabilization. Thus, this approach is relatively easy to implement and can be applied to a wide range of proteins.Entities:
