Abstract
In recent decades considerable data have been acquired concerning the complex interactions of the organism-antimicrobial-host triad. Using the current understanding of drug disposition in the body, pharmacokinetics, and in vitro microbiologic activity, optimal dosing strategies can be derived to maximize clinical efficacy and minimize potential toxicities. This article discusses pharmacokinetics, pharmadynamics, and the application of this principle in clinical practice.Entities:
