W L DeGinder1, M Nacol, J L Walzel.

Abstract

Spontaneous pneumoperitoneum without signs of peritonitis is rare in men, presenting a dilemma to the surgeon facing this problem in a new patient. A unique case of chronic aseptic spontaneous pneumoperitoneum is presented to illustrate some of the problems of diagnosis and management over a period of more than 8 years in a patient 93 years old at the time of latest follow-up.
