Adult trauma survivors and post-traumatic stress sequelae: an analysis of reexperiencing, avoidance, and arousal criteria.

S E Ullman1.

Abstract

The relationship of traumatic events to DSM-III criteria symptoms for post-traumatic stress disorder was examined in a randomized community survey (N = 2,364) of Los Angeles residents. Multivariate analysis of covariance revealed that both demographic factors and the type of traumatic event influenced respondents' reports of reexperiencing, avoidance, and arousal symptoms after the event.
