Acetabular penetration of sliding screw.

H G Johnannsen1, B Krebs.

Abstract

Case report of disengagement of sliding screw from the plate and penetration through the acetabulum into the pelvic cavity. The mechanism was probably technical failure in combination with osteoporosis and a new trauma in the region. We find that it is possible to remove the screw through the old incision, but the patient should be prepared for laparotomy.
