Abstract
Disabilities among children result in substantial reductions in quality of life and are associated with increased dependence on the health-care and social-service systems. To assess the prevalence of disabilities and their associated health conditions children, CDC reviewed data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) for 1991-1992, which collected information about chronic conditions, including the functional limitations related to those conditions (1,2).
