Abstract
Investigations were carried out to evaluate the effect of the hot water extract of black tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze (Theaceae) on streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats. The extract significantly reduced the blood glucose level and was found to possess both preventive and curative effects on experimentally produced diabetes in rats. The study reveals that, like green tea, black tea also possesses antidiabetic activity.Entities:
