Abstract
Immunohistochemical tests have demonstrated the presence of leu-5-enkephalin and other bioactive compounds (serotonin and neuron-specific enolase) in the basal cells of lingual taste buds in Ambystoma tigrinum; there was also a weak reaction for met-5-enkephalin. Similar reactions were obtained from particular cells dispersed within the lingual epithelium, which are provisionally identified as Merkel cells.Entities:
