Abstract
A new antibiotic, chivosazol, was isolated from the culture broth of the myxobacterium Sorangium cellulosum strain So ce12. It is a macrocyclic ring with one oxazol ring and a glycosidically bound 6-deoxyglucose (quinovose) at C-11. The antibiotic shows antimicrobial activity against yeasts and filamentous fungi, and is especially potent against mammalian cells. It was not active against bacteria.Entities:
