Abstract
In this paper the theoretical background and practical applications of the life review are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the relevance of the life review for the mastery of developmental transitions across the entire life span as well as for adaptation to the challenges commonly associated with aging. The terms guided autobiography, life review and reminiscence are explained as are techniques for guiding reminiscence and life review. The life review is presented as a method which can be effectively used in community or institutional settings.Mesh:
