Toxicity of Fusarium sambucinum Fuckel sensu lato to brine shrimp.

R Schmidt1, P Zajkowski, J Wink.

Abstract

In a screening test seven Fusarium strains out of 17 proved to be toxic towards brine shrimp. Among these, four F. sambucinum strains as well as three F. venenatum isolates caused toxic effects. The chemical screening by TLC analysis revealed the presence of sambucinol and diacetoxyscirpenol in the extracts of the toxic isolates of F. venenatum 64537.
