Abstract
Coronary flow and thus myocardial perfusion is regulated by myogenic, metabolic, humoral and neuro-hormonal factors which closely interact with local autacoids released from the endothelial lining of the coronary bed. In a number of disease states an impaired synthesis and release of autacoids decisively limit the overall capacity of coronary regulation and adaptation of myocardial perfusion to increased metabolic demands. The important factors for these control mechanisms are analyzed and reviewed in this article.Mesh:
