Abstract
Islet amyloid is a recognized characteristic finding in insulinoma and secondary islet hyperplasia resulting from severe insulin resistance. Little information is available about the presence of islet amyloid in primary islet hyperplasia (nesidioblastosis) of childhood. Here we report that islet amyloid was not present in 12 children with primary islet hyperplasia associated with hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.Entities:
