Participation of the anterior suprasylvian cortex of the cat in the preparation of the paw extension reaction.

V I Maiorov1.

Abstract

The electrical stimulation of the anterior suprasylvian cortex of cats (field 5b) induces the contralateral forepaw extension reaction. Neurons were recorded in the focus of effective stimulation which were tonically activated under the influence of motivationally significant visual and tactile stimuli which anticipate or elicit the reactions of paw extension and/or paw placement on a support.
