Abstract
In a 75-year-old man acute intestinal pseudo-obstruction was observed during treatment with baclofen 20 mg daily. After discontinuation of the baclofen he recovered completely. No other cause of intestinal obstruction could be demonstrated. Baclofen is an agonist of spinal GABA receptors. It is used in the treatment of spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis or other diseases of the spinal cord, in particular traumatic lesions. Physicians should be aware of this possible adverse effect of baclofen.Entities:
