Abstract
This article describes barriers to treatment identified by a sample of substance-abusing/addicted women (mostly African-American). A self-administered questionnaire, the Allen Barriers to Treatment Instrument, was submitted to 97 substance-abusing/addicted women throughout the state of Illinois who were not in treatment. Results showed that the barriers most identified by these subjects included responsibility for child care, lack of insurance or money, and community issues.Entities:
