[Reconstructive cholesteatectomy. Technique and results, 12 years later (author's transl)].

J M Sterkers, O Sterkers.

Abstract

Since 1967, 103 cholesteatomas of the middle ear have been operated. A "reconstructive cholesteatectomy" was done in 89 cases. A recurrence was observed in 13,5%, usually after three years. A good functional result was obtained in 40%. The surgical technique is actually, a tympanoplasty with an open superior cavity, for the largest cholesteatomas.
