[Etiology of retinopathia centralis serosa (author's transl)].

F Trichtel.

Abstract

The results of morphologic studies of the retina pupillary measurements and psychodiagnostic examinations in 21 patients with acute retinopathia centralis serosa and 107 cases of stages after this disease comply with the criteria of a psychovegetative syndrome. In the clinical picture, called "overexposure syndrome", 2 factors are prominent: a disturbance in the dynamics of the iris diaphragma (dyskinesia of the pupil) and a structural damage of the retina (central serous retinopathy). If in consequence of such a dyskinesia, the causes of which are described in detail, the limited adaptation of the retina to high light intensities is exceeded, damages of the retina according to acuity, intensity and duration of the exogenic or endogenic pathogenous influences can arise. The causes of these damages are to be sought in a physio- and psychodynamic process.
