Abstract
In ruptures of the rotator cuff, the supraspinatus tendon frequently is retracted and repair without excessive tension is difficult to achieve. The technique of supraspinatus advancement, as described by Debeyre et al., may be a useful technique for such patients. We reviewed the results of this operation in eighteen patients seen by us. In fourteen (77 per cent) of them satisfactory results were obtained after a minimum follow-up of two years. Meticulous technique and preservation of the neurovascular supply of the supraspinatus tendon enhanced the outcome. An approach to the supraspinatus muscle utilizing resection of the acromioclavicular joint facilitated the repair.Entities:
