Respiratory symptoms and disease related to alcohol consumption.

M D Lebowitz.

Abstract

It was found that alcohol consumption affected respiratory symptoms and lung function, even when age, smoking habits, and other risk factors were taken into account. The effect of alcohol was most consistently noted among male present heavy drinkers who were also heavy smokers. Smoking is a far more important contributor to respiratory symptoms, but alcohol consumption is a significant risk factor as well.
