[One-stage-resection of colon and rectum without protective colostomy -- a safe procedure (author's transl)].

Abstract

A total of 1117 one-stage-resections was evaluated. The rate of anastomotic insufficiency came up to 3.6% (cancer) and 5.7% (diverticulitis). Mortality rate in cancer patients due to local complications came up to 1.1%, due to general causes to 4.9%, the percentage of diverticulitis of the sigmoid colon was 1,9% and 0,9% respectively. Impaired wound healing in cancer patients was observed in 9,2% and in patients with diverticulitis in 13.3%.
