[Pathological anatomy of the pseudolymphoma and lymphoma of the digestive tract (author's transl)].

R D Stern, B Tschikunowa.

Abstract

On the basis of 44 cases of pseudolymphomas and lymphomas of the gastro-intestinal tract the authors demonstrate the histological properties of these diseases with particular reference to the differential diagnosis. The most important features are the behaviour of the argyrophilic fibres and the occurrence or absence of germinal centres. The pseudolymphomas are divided into three types according to their different cellular composition. The pseudolymphomas hold nosologically an intermediate position between inflammation and neoplasia. They are the expression of an immunological alteration. The transformation of a pseudolymphoma into a malignant lymphoma has been shown by several biopsies over a period of four years and the examination of the resected stomach in one case.
