Abstract

Biliary duct ascariasis is a known complication of intestinal ascaris infestation. Treatment up to now was predominantly surgically. In a 32-year-old female Turk with a history of two years of colicky upper abdominal pains and intermittent cholestasis endoscopic transpapillary extraction of Ascaris lumbricoides in the hepatocholedochal duct was successfully performed using the Dormia basket. Pre-extraction papillotomy was not necessary.
