Abstract
Serum thyroid hormone levels were measured before and during 10 days treatment with acebutolol (400 mg/day), oxprenolol (160 mg/day) and propranolol (160 mg/day) eighteen hyperthyroid patients. A significant change in thyroid hormone concentrations was seen only in the group treated with propranolol. Propranolol should be used in preference to beta-adrenoreceptor blocking drugs with partial agonist activity, in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.Entities:
