Abstract
The western-trained surgeon working in a mission hospital in a developing country finds that in spite of the heavy demands placed upon him the work can be most absorbing, challenging, and satisfying. Some impressions gained during 31/2 years working in the department of surgery of a mission hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal, are recorded. Particular reference is made to the striking differences in disease incidence, as brought out in a review of operative surgery for 1977.Mesh:
