Hyperactivity and neurosis.

David F Freeman1, Thomas P Cornwall2.

Abstract

The interrelationship of neurosis and the symptom of hyperactivity is discussed, and illustrated in five long-term psychotherapy cases. It is concluded that hyperactivity, with our without the hyperkinetic syndrome, may occur with neurotic conflicts from various developmental levels, and that all cases of hyperactivity merit careful diagnostic evaluation and treatment of emotional and physical factors.
