Estrogen-like effects of O,P'-DDT on the progesterone receptor of rat uterine cytosol.

R R Mason, G J Schulte.

Abstract

Uterine cytosolic progesterone binding in ovariectromized mature rats, treated with 10mg o,p'-DDT, 1.0microgram estradiol or vehicle, was examined by a dextran-coated charcoal method and sucrose gradient density analysis. Increases in progesterone binding capacities in o,p'-DDT and estradiol treated groups were demonstrated. The characteristics of the progesterone binding component were comparable to those of progesterone receptors in rat uteri.
