Complications during intravascular diagnostic manipulations in the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

E J Slingenberg.

Abstract

A report is presented of complications during arteriography in a patient with the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. This patient exhibited elements of all seven types of the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, so that typing was not possible. Whenever possible, however, the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome should be typed. This applies in particular to the ecchymotic type IV, and to type I, in view of the considerable risk of severe vascular complications. Arteriography should be avoided whenever, possible.
