Compartmental syndromes.

F A Matsen.

Abstract

Although uncommon, compartmental syndromes may be encountered by physicians of almost any specialty, because they can arise under a variety of circumstances. Prompt diagnosis, made on the basis of clinical signs and symptoms, and usually surgical decompression of involved and potentially involved compartments can obviate significant or total loss of neuromuscular function in the affected limb.
