The use of the bipolar microcoagulator for haemostasis in tonsillectomy.

E F Flint.

Abstract

A two-part prospective trial of the use of bipolar diathermy for haemostasis in tonsillectomy was carried out. The first part of the trial showed that bipolar diathermy was as effective as conventional methods of dealing with bleeding, and has no additional undesirable effects. The second part showed that the method could substantially reduce operating time.
