Prolonged excretion of Toxoplasma gondii in semen of goats.

J P Dubey, S P Sharma.

Abstract

Toxoplasma gondii was demonstrated by mouse inoculation in semen of three of three goats orally inoculated with 10(4) oocysts of the GT-1 strain of T gondii. From goats 1 and 3, T gondii was first detected in semen 7 days after inoculation (DAI) and 12 DAI from goat 2. Excretion continued over a period of 52 days from goat 1 and 16 days from goat 2. Goat 3 had excreted T gondii for 5 days when its was killed 14 DAI.
