Platelet count on acute induction to high altitude.

S C Sharma.

Abstract

Platelet counts in 50 normal healthy volunteers were performed at sea level and then serially on rapid induction to 3658 m by air. Subjects were divided into "symptomatic# and "asymptomatic# groups depending on their score on the symptoms score chart. All were brought back to sea level and study repeated. Platelet count in the symptomatic group showed a falling trend while in the asymptomatics a gradual rise was noted.
