[Motor unit activity of distal cat limb muscles induced by bipolar microstimulation of the postcruciate region of the cortex].

D N Lenkov, B P Mochenkov, S V Ivlev.

Abstract

Bipolar intracortical microstimulation at a depth of 1.5-2.2 mm, evoked within a very narrow zone of the postcruciate cortex a phasic discharge of motor units in forepaw m. flexor digitorum profundus. The stimulating trains consisting of 7-8 pulses with frequency of 300 Hz were the shortest for initiation of the motor unit response. The stretching of the muscle produced a facilitation of intracortical stimulating effects.
