Abstract
Leftventricular parameters of pressure, volume and contractility were recorded in the guinea pig treated with propranolol and digoxin. Propranolol shifts the isovolumetric pressure-volume-relation to higher enddiastolic volume. Pressure, rate of pressure rise, and heart rate considerably decrease. Cardiodepression of high-dose propranolol treatment is reversed in part by digoxin. Conclusions for application of beta-blockers, especially in imparied ventricular function, are discussed.Entities:
