Implantation of collagen for depressed scars.

S J Stegman, T A Tromovitch.

Abstract

Zyderm Collagen Implant is a highly purified, pepsin-solubilized bovine collagen, which can be injected in the skin to correct soft-tissue depressions. Thus far, it has been used in California without serious difficulty. Clinical improvement from its use is estimated to be from 50-85%. The material is useful for scars resulting from acne, varicella, and trauma, and for some wrinkles and creases on the face.
